Day 4: Let go of Fear and Guilt
Why do we constantly feel like we are doing something wrong? This is a big one! How often do we feel guilty because we ate or drank too much over the holidays? When we fear of food, fear fat or fear of gaining weight we are in a stressed state. I am telling you stress shows up all the time in all different ways.
How insane is it for us to fear food? It is something we can't live without, but with all of the nutritional information saying "eat this not that" we are left feeling like we are doing something wrong and can't get it right.
When we fear food, fat, weight gain or have guilt we create stress chemistry in our body. This often leads to overeating or binge eating, especially during the holidays. When you are present you are relaxed and when you are relaxed you can’t binge or overeat because you are tuned into your body.
What are some of the thoughts and beliefs you have around food? How big of an affect to they have on your food choices? When you are aware of your thoughts, beliefs and choices you have the power.
What to do
Do you often feel out of control with food? This means you may have some fear. Release the fear and let go of the guilt. Have compassion for yourself.
Ask yourself what you really want or need and how is this food going to make you feel? This will help you make better choices.
Stop feeling guilty for eating (because you are going to do it anyway, might as well enjoy it), not doing enough, being enough or giving enough. Be present with yourself and the people you are with because that has so much value.
